- Afilias, a global provider of internet infrastructure services, today announced that it is a sponsor of Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) and its BIND 10 development effort. Afilias joins other industry leaders as a financial sponsor and member of a steering committee which will oversee the multi-year development project to ensure that the next version of the BIND Domain Name Server architecture is designed to meet the needs of the global DNS community.

Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) is the most widely used DNS name server software, supporting over 80% of the world's Internet traffic. BIND 10 will set out to produce a new code base for the popular open source name server software. Partially based on the current BIND 9, the new version will focus on modularity, customizability, clusterization, integration, resilience, and runtime control.
